The following is an excerpt
from Voice of Reason
Paige was suddenly and harshly thrown to the ground. Then she was floating above the ground. She looked down at her body. It was unmoving as the rain poured down on it.
There were people milling around her body and she saw Gil running towards her body, shouting for someone to call 911.
She heard the sounds of sirens in the distance. The state troopers had arrived with an ambulance and people she didn't know were checking the body over carefully. That body was her.
I'm dying, she thought. No, I'm actually dead. I've already died and left my body. She was floating over herself, looking down at the empty shell.
She was not afraid. Nor did it matter to her that she was dead. In fact, she felt extremely happy, free of all heartache and sadness, and without a care in the world.
Unexpectedly, she was being sucked forward as if by a giant vacuum. She was in the dark tunnel of a hose. She was being pulled up by some great force. She was not upset, even though she knew she was dead. At the end of the tunnel she could see a tiny pinpoint of light. As she continued on her way, rushing toward the light, it got brighter and closer. Soon she emerged from the tunnel, blinking and trying to adjust her eyes to the light. It was the most magnificent light. She was surrounded by it, enveloped in its warmth and brilliance. It embraced her and made her feel light headed.
Paige realized she had entered another world, a different dimension, and that she was a spirit. She had never experienced feelings like this in all her life.
She became aware of other spirits. They were sending her love and warmth.
The light changed.
